Work & Life: A balancing act

Work life balance – we all struggle with it.

Don’t work so much you miss out on your life.

Don’t live so much that you cannot climb the ladder.

They can’t cross yet they seem to cross every. single. day.

For those of you are WFH like me – finding work-life balance is easy. But sometimes it is easy to allow work to flood into every part of you life instead of shutting your computer down at 5 pm. When you work in the office you are able to work usual hours and separate the two spaces but the time commitment sometimes limits where you can actual live.

It is such a juggling act. Over the past years I found a few things that simply help keep this balance as even as it can be.

I have a typical M-F 8-5 career, I recently got moved to WFH and that has been a great improvement in my balance. These are the things that I find that work best to find the balance.

Set a schedule for work….and stick to it. I get it sometimes work comes into the play and you have to stay later than expected or come in early for a meeting. Keep those moments at bay. Setting a schedule will not only help you stay consistent at work but it also allows for better planning for the rest of life’s moments.

Have a designated working space. Whether it is a desk in an office building or a spare room at home. Set yourself up for success and be able to close the work chapter at the end of the day.

Don’t keep you notification on during work hours. Keep snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and other media platforms closed. This allows you to focus solely on work and doesn’t bled your personal time into work time.

Keep a work calendar and personal calendar separate. This helps the overlap in time minimal and allows you think only of the hours at hand work vs personal time. Make them separate to keep them separate.

Those are a few tips that help balance my time and keep my work-life balance even.
