When styling a bookshelf there are a few tips and tricks to keep it simple while bringing your vision to life.
You want to begin with laying out all your items to easily see what you have. Place biggest items first, then layer in the rest around what you have placed. Don’t be afraid to move items around as you work pieces in.
Step 1 – LAYER! Stacking books horizontally is a great way to layer and add height to your space. Add framed artwork or photos to the back of your space to create depth. Reminder to work in odd numbers to really catch the eye.
Step 2 – COLOR SCHEME – find one and stick to it. If you already have a color for the room, your bookshelf should stick to the same. Don’t allow your colors in the bookshelf to compete against the rest of the space.
Step 3 – LESS IS MORE! Styling in groups is key to allow your vision come to mind and appeal to the eye.
Step 4 – VARY VARY VARY! Vary materials, adding touches of shimmering metals or translucent glass to lighten up the look. Layer in artwork and/or framed photos. Small paintings placed toward the back of shelves add depth and pattern.
Enjoy the process, take the time and get styling.
