Navigating Marriage and Anxiety…

Marriage VS Anxiety –

My husband and I met when we were 15 and 16, through our moms. It was a quick, young love and grew into the marriage we share today.

Struggling with anxiety most of my life, is not a new topic. Every relationship has their “thing” that thing that has caused more arguments than you can recollect. For most the common ones are money, work-life balance, parenting, etc. For us it is – ANXIETY.

My severe anxiety has acted like a barrier – limiting us in so many ways. Money. Experiences. Future Family. Friends. Relationships. We were on the brink of separation or worse, honestly I didn’t know if we were going to make it. As most who suffer from mental illnesses, it causes strain with our significant others. The burden has placed a lot of blame and stress on our marriage really showing there wasn’t many options.

We are a work in progress each day brings new challenges we have to face together but my biggest advice is to have respect, understanding and know that you are a TEAM, and most importantly it’s your team against the common enemy.

YOU got this – together. Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.

XO, Brook Ashlee
